Definition of Passive Voice

Passive Voice is sentences are subject to a work or action meaning that the subject does not perform action.



Passive Voice = S + Auxiliary Verb + V3



     



a. Simple Present

Active  : S + V1 + Object

Passive : Object + tobe + V3

Example :

Active  : I eat that cake.

Passive : That cake is eaten by me.

b. Present Future

Active  : S + will + V1 + Object

Passive : Object + will + be + V3

Example :

Active  : I will do the homework.

Passive : The homework will be done by me.

c. Present Perfect

Active  : S + Have/Has + been + V3 + Object

Passive : Object + Have/Has + been + V3

Example :

Active  : You have taken the pencil.

Passive : The pencil has been taken by you.

d. Present Continuous

Active  : S + tobe + V-ing + Object

Passive : Object + tobe + being + V3

Example :

Active  : He is eating a huge cake.

Passive : A huge cake is being eaten.

e. Present Future Perfect

Active  : S + will + Have + V3 + Object

Passive : Object + will + Have + been + V3

Example :

Active  : We will have finished all the tasks.

Passive : All the tasks will have been finished by us.
